String Quartet
The String Quartet is the classic ensemble of the chamber music family. Consisting of two violins, a viola and cello, there is a vast amount of repertoire written. Haydn, nicknamed The Father of the String Quartet, composed 68 works, thus proving the versatility of this combination while Beethoven and Mozart also contributed on a grand scale.
The Ensemble Link String Quartet is known for bringing freshness and polish to performances. They delight in creating music that is spontaneous and harmonious! The quartet specialises in chamber music in all its forms playing classical alongside jazz and popular arrangements. All members have graduate degrees in performance and have played with major symphony orchestras both here and overseas.
String Quartets Suit:
Wedding ceremonies and receptions, corporate functions, dinners, public events, private parties, promotional events, educational performances, concerts.
-
String Trio
For a more understated, relaxed vibe, try this reduced version of the string quartet. Choose between 2 violins and a cello, or violin, viola and cello. The Ensemble Link String Trio is also popular for its versatility and creates a warmth and familiarity ideal for smaller functions.
String Trio Suits:
Wedding ceremonies and receptions, low-key corporate functions, private parties, art exhibitions, engagement parties, kids' parties, dinners.
-
Violin & Cello Duo
The Ensemble Link String Duo is slightly more soloistic than the quartet or trio. The contrast between the two instruments is more distinct which makes for interesting, virtuosic entertainment. While violin and cello works best, any combination from the string quartet is possible. Perfect as a backdrop for smaller, intimate occasions.
Violin & Cello Duo Suits:
Launches, art exhibitions, dinners, birthday parties, kids' parties, concerts.
-
Flute & Guitar Duo
An intoxicating combination, flute and guitar match each other well. The mesmerizing chords of the guitar add support to the ethereal melodies of the flute. The Ensemble Link Flute & Guitar Duo play mainly Spanish and South American music along with some classical arrangements. This duo met while studying at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music and have been performing extensively since. They appear regularly for the Sydney Classical Guitar Society, have recorded for ABC Classic FM's ‘Young Australia’ and play for corporate functions, charity events and major venues.
Flute & Guitar Duo Suits:
Wedding ceremonies, corporate functions, dinners, marriage proposals, garden parties, education concerts, recitals, kids' parties.
-
Cello, Flute & Guitar Trio
This combination will add pizzazz and sparkle to any event. The cello adds extra layers and texture to the flute and guitar, doubling as both a bass and melody instrument. The repertoire is similar to that of flute and guitar, but encompasses a larger range.
Cello, Flute & Guitar Trio Suits:
Conferences, dinners, wedding ceremonies and receptions, corporate functions.
-
Flute & Cello Duo
A simple and elegant combination, choose either to have the baroque flute or modern flute with cello. The music can light and playful or sedate and relaxing. Recommended for an intimate, low-key event as the sound is more subdued than other ensembles.
Flute & Cello Duo Suits:
Dinners and gallery openings, private parties, kids' parties, art exhibitions, wedding ceremonies.
-
Cello & Guitar Duo
Like two brothers, the cello and guitar have interesting similarities and differences. Both can act as accompaniment and melodic agents, yet their roles keep changing in this duo. The repertoire ranges from Latin with flashy tangos and serenades to classical, with the guitar often taking the accompanynig role. The rich, mellow strains of the cello go well with the undulating chords of the guitar.
Cello & Guitar Duo Suits
Dinners, weddings, art exhibitions, corporate functions.
-
Violin, Piano & Clarinet Trio
This unconventional form of Piano Trio works remarkably well. The clarinet adds an extra melodic dimension to the violin, while the piano provides a depth of support and virtuosity. This trio has a 19th Century salon type feel reminiscent of an afternoon garden party, with croquet on the lawn. Be transported to another era of elegance and sentimentality with Chopin and Strauss waltzes and arrangements from the Romantic genre. This upcoming group met through the Open Academy of the Sydney Conservatorium of Music and is brimming with talent and enthusiasm. The pianist is also a talented composer having written and arranged many of the group's repertoire. They have been coached by prominent and respected musicians and in 2006 won the Instrumental Ensemble category of the Musica Viva Chamber Music Awards at the McDonald's Performing Arts Challenge.
Violin, Piano & Clarinet Trio Suits
Corporate functions, weddings, dances, dinners, concerts, kids' parties.
-
Piano Trio
One of the more standard chamber ensembles, this group features violin, cello and piano. Contributing composers include Beethoven, Brahms, Mendelssohn, Schubert, Ravel, Debussy and Mozart. All instruments balance each other well with the melody being passed back and forth between the instruments. In the 19th Century, the piano trio became popular as medium for people to perform arrangements of larger works such as symphonies in their own homes. Thus this ensemble is versatile in nature and excellent for showcasing arrangements of any style, even popular music.
Piano Trio Suits:
Corporate functions, wedding receptions, concerts, dances, formal dinners.
-
Violin & Piano Duo
For that special "wow" factor, this duo features a sensational virtuosity hard to find elsewhere. From cantabile serenades to flashy show pieces the violin and piano has an impressive range of repertoire sure to keep your guests entertained. The most popular of the stringed instruments, the violin is renowned for the difficulty required in mastering its tone.
Violin & Piano Duo Suits:
Corporate functions, weddings, dances, dinners, kids parties, concerts, church services.
-
Wind Trio
Comprised of flute, clarinet and bassoon this is a delightful woodwind combination, performing repertoire that is lively and vibrant. After their debut concert at the Crows Nest Performing Arts Centre in June 2008, the group were invited to appear at the Willoughby Spring Festival. The ensemble continue to give recitals with a recent appearance at Lavendar Bay Christ Church.
Wind Trio Suits:
Weddings, corporate functions, concerts.
-
Baroque Trio
For a period feel reminiscent of the 17th and 18th Century, choose this unique combination. Available as baroque flute, violin and viola da gamba or baroque flute, recorder and bassoon, these instruments will add a lightness of mood and spirit to your occasion. All members regularly perform with the Australian Brandenburg Orchestra and Salut! Baroque - both famed for authentic performances in this style.
Baroque Trio Suits:
Weddings, corporate functions, concerts, kids' parties, dinners.
-
Brass Trio
This is a perfect group for ceremonial and celebratory occasions as the mood created is bright and happy with highly charged energy. Occasionally used at weddings to create an austere, medieval feel, brass instruments featured during the wedding processional of Mary Donaldson's union to the Crown Prince of Denmark. A reduction of the brass quintet featuring trumpet, horn and trombone, this ensemble delivers punch on a tight, dynamic scale. Repertoire ranges from ceremonial standards and popular tunes to arrangements of Bach chorales and works from other baroque masters such as Handel and Purcell. An ideal group for outdoor events.
Brass Trio Suits:
Weddings, concerts, kids' parties, educational performances, outdoor events.
-
Solo Guitar
The classical guitar is a beautiful accompaniment to special events. The repertoire is vast spanning Spanish and South American as well as numerous arrangements and originals from the classical genre. A softer instrument, it is ideal for tasteful occasions with a smaller amount of people requiring a certain degree of warmth and refinement.
Solo Guitar Suits:
Art exhibitions, gallery openings, quiet dinners, educational concerts, wedding ceremonies.
-
Solo Piano
A versatile instrument, the solo piano covers many different styles and genres with an amazingly wide repertoire. From Chopin to Beethoven, Prokofiev to Bach, Joplin to Billy Joel - there is lots to choose from. The piano has wide appeal, yet is a highly refined instrument requiring mastery and dedication. It is a very versatile solo instrument for background music. Please be sure to specify what style you would like - we have classical, jazz, blues, rag-time and boogie-woogie!
Solo Piano Suits:
Dinners, corporate functions, art exhibitions, weddings.
-
Solo Cello
The cello is a favourite instrument among many. It was brought to prominence in the 20th Century by Pablo Casals, then Mstislav Rostropovich and later Jacqueline Du Pré - who featured in the autobiographical movie Hilary and Jackie. The cello has a beautiful singing quality reminiscent of a smooth alto or tenor. A well-loved work written for unaccompanied cello is the Six Suites by J.S. Bach. This piece delves into the essence of human experience and emotion. Emily Duffill is the cellist in the below recordings.
Solo Cello Suits: Concerts, corporate functions, art exhibitions, private functions.
-
Solo Violin
The solo violin will be sure to impress. Used in the past for a "wandering minstrel" effect in old fashioned restaurants, it has a serenading type feel. The violin, by itself, has a substantial amount of repertoire, making it a dynamically self-sufficient instrument.
Solo Violin Suits:
Dinners, art exhibitions, kids' parties.
-
Solo Flute
A member of the woodwind family, the flute is a strong melody instrument with a divine, celestial tone. It will delight your guests with its magic and charm. Both baroque and modern flute available.
Solo Flute Suits:
Gallery openings, art exhibitions, dinners, kids' parties, wedding ceremonies, educational concerts.

Testimonial: 11/11/09
Hello Emily,
I wanted to take this opportunity to thank you and the other musicians for playing at our wedding.
The music was by far one of the most memorable, and beautiful moments of our wedding-we could not have asked for anybody to do a better job.
I just loved the music, and could not stop telling everyone how much it set the mood for the day. (All the guests loved it)
Once again thank you for your patience and for being so helpful through the whole process.
We will definitely be telling all our friends who weren’t there how great you were- and other brides to be!!
We would love for you to play at other events we have- will definitely contact you then.
Thank you once again!
Kind Regards,
Sarah Benaud
